KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Gerakan Malaysia (Gerakan) Selangor officially participated in the Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) State Liaison Body meeting on Sunday.

PN Information Chief, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, said the participation was Gerakan’s first involvement at the state level after the party became a member of PN at the national level on February 11.

According to him, the meeting also unanimously appointed the Chairman of Selangor Gerakan, Datuk Ang Chin Tat as the vice chairman of Selangor PN.

“The participation of Gerakan in the Perikatan Nasional is very significant to strengthen the image of the Perikatan Nasional and prove the inclusive Perikatan Nasional policy and celebrate diversity.

“I am confident that this policy will strengthen the efforts of the Perikatan Nasional to mobilise the participation and support of the people, especially the millennial generation.

“The Perikatan Nasional is also committed to embracing a new paradigm for the people’s struggle and injecting new dynamism into value-based politics,” he said in a statement on Monday.

Azmin added that his party also made the decision to strengthen the existing cooperation and move forward as a strength in the GE-15 and post-election.

“The Selangor State Perikatan Nasional will focus on efforts to plan and implement policies in order to produce prosperity and social justice.

“As a political cooperation, the Perikatan Nasional is determined to uphold the identity of the Malaysian nation and at the same time celebrate the diversity of languages, races and religions as a whole and dynamic union,” he said.

Astro AWANI previously reported that Gerakan was officially accepted to join as the newest member of PN.

The matter was confirmed by Gerakan President, Datuk Dominic Lau Hoe Chai on Astro AWANI.

Dominic said, as a non-racist party, Gerakan will continue to be consistent in playing a role in focusing on the principles of democracy in the country.
