GEORGE TOWN: Gerakan will contest in 25 parliamentary seats nationwide in the case of a snap election this year, says its president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau (pic).

Lau said they were expecting snap polls soon and are strategising their movements.

“This is because we predict that snap elections will happen and are narrowing down the areas we want to contest in,” he said at a press conference while distributing the Jalur Gemilang to residents at Desa Pinang 1 in Jelutong here Sunday (Aug 23).

Lau added that the party would keep gauging the situation in the case of snap elections as the political situation in the country is always changing.

“We mapped out our action plans, and we will be on ground with the people, especially at hotspots in the areas we want to contest to gauge and survey the public.

“Some of the elements we take seriously are the people’s reactions and acceptance towards candidates put forth by Gerakan and public perception and feedback,” he said.

Meanwhile, Penang Gerakan chairman Oh Tong Keong said the party is

organising more activities to interact with the community and to gauge their perception.

“This hopefully, could help us garner support from the people and for us to stand a chance to contest and win in future,” he said.
