Gerakan urges MCA, MIC to leave BN and join PN

KUALA LUMPUR: Gerakan has urged MCA and MIC to leave Barisan Nasional (BN) and join the Perikatan Nasional (PN) fold.

Gerakan secretary-general Mak Kah Keong said both parties appear to be frequently sidelines by BN during decision-making.

He said as the country is in the midst of an economic and health crisis, the survival of the people is far more important than politicking.

“It is wise for them to leave BN.

“If they still do not realise, both parties will lose more traditional seats to (BN) component parties,” he said in a statement today.

The PN-led federal government recently came under fire after it was announced that it had revoked the six Emergency Ordinances introduced during the State of Emergency, without seeking the consent of the King.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had expressed his disappointment over the matter.

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim claimed the King’s statement was proof that PN had gone against the principles of the Federal Constitution and the royal institution. Anwar also urged Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his Cabinet to resign immediately.

Barisan Nasional has since expressed its backing for Muhyiddin.
