Press Release

Enough with the POLITICKING, time to move on and focus on the econmony

Dec 16, 2020

  1. After much brouhaha, the Dewan Rakyat has finally passed the Supply Bill (Budget) 2021.
  2. There were 111 Members of Parliament (MPs) in favour against 108 who opposed it with one absentee, namely Tengku Tan Sri Razaleigh Hamzah.
  3. The budget will see the government spending an allocated RM322.5 billion next year as it seeks to revive economic activities following the downturn caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
  4. This 2021 Budget was without doubt the most controversial one ever approved, with everyone from elected representatives to the man on the street questioning some of the allocations for the different ministries.
  5. The many voices raised did not entirely fall on deaf ears and the government eventually modified and slashed some of the proposed allocations.
  6. The most obvious cut was the RM45 million reduction set aside for the Special Affairs Department (Jasa) while the Education Ministry remained the biggest recipient with RM50.36 billion.
  7. With the budget issue finally settled, I pray that politicians from all sides of the divide will focus on putting the country’s economy back on the right track. Enough with the politicking ready.
  8. We cannot have politicians desperate for power coming up with almost declarations that they have the so called numbers to topple the government. Such shenanigans have not only become an embarrassment for Malaysia but also rattled investor confidence in the country.
  9. No right minded investor would ever want to pump in their money in a place where the focus is on excessive politicking instead of economic development.
  10. However, I fear this dream of our politicians putting their energy in the right place may be far fetched still. No sooner has the budget passed that we are now hearing some MPs may be leaving the government en bloc in the coming days or weeks.
  11. There are some bent on disrupting the administration of this country no matter what. They claim to have the best interest of the people at heart but their actions on totally opposite of what is uttered.
  12. Malaysians will not take this sitting down and I would like to remind politicians greedy for power and positions that they would pay dearly at the ballot box when the time comes. We have seen it happen in the 14th General Election and I am 100 per cent positive that the people will have no qualms to punish self serving politicians again in the next election.
